The country’s electronics giant ‘Walton’ has greatly focused on the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, one of the largest religious festivals of the Muslim community, by setting a target of selling out about five lakh pieces of refrigerators and freezers during the month of July and August this year.

Dwelling on the sales target, Walton authorities said, the period of Eid-ul-Azha is generally treated as the prime season for fridge sales as half of the total sales of fridges in a year are being sold out between the period of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. Demands for fridges generally geared up across the country ahead of Qurbani Eid as people purchased this appliance to preserve the meat of their sacrificed animals during the Eid days. Usually, traders wait for this time across the year to sell out huge number of refrigerators and freezers, they added.

Sometimes, traders face difficulties in meeting the extra demands for fridges on the eve of Qurani Eid. Thus, the local brand this year has already taken massive preparations to grab the lion portion of the excessive demands for fridges ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

The Walton officials said, they have already increased the fridge production just after the end of Eid-ul-Fitr. Now, about 6,000 to 7,000 pieces of fridges are manufactured in a day at Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited at Chandra in Gazipur. Walton is delivering fridges round the clock 24 from its factory to the sales points like Walton Plazas and distributors across the country. Already, sufficient stocks of fridges have been created in all Walton Plazas and distributor’ points across the country.

Pointing at the target of selling out 5 lakh units of fridges ahead of Qurbani Eid, they said, customers of all classes are now preferring Walton brand’s deep fridge and refrigerators due to its some uniqueness like application of world’s latest technologies in the production process, assurance of world-class quality, variation in designs and colours, reasonable prices, maximum 10 years replacement guaranty for compressors, one year  replacement guaranty, introduction of new technologies and models of fridges like glass door and huge power efficient intelligent inverters tech based non-frost refrigerators, and ISO standard service network across the country. As a result, the local brand sold out more than two lakh refrigerators and freezers during the month of Ramadan this year, which also made Walton optimism about selling out huge number of fridges ahead of Qurbani.
Thus, they said the sales of Walton brand fridges are increased by more than 25 percent during the first half of the current year compared to the sales of the corresponding period of 2016.

Eva Rezwana, chief marketing coordinator and executive director of Walton Plaza Sales and Development, said, “During the last couple of years, we experienced that the demands for fridges were gone up centering the Eid-ul-Azha. Thus, this year we took massive preparation just after the end of Eid-ul-Fitre and increased the fridge production side by side took strategic planning in our supply chain process.”

Walton would be able to grab lion portion of the excessive demands for fridges in the local market in Qurbani Eid, she hoped.

Amdadul Haque Sarker, head of marketing and executive director of Walton, said that this year, the customers’ reliance and dependency on Walton brand fridges has been increased to large extents. 

Now, the customers believed that the quality of Walton fridges is better than that of imported ones and the price is also affordable, he added.


The demands for Walton fridges would be increased further in the coming days, he hoped.
