Country's leading brand Walton has become the title sponsor of Federation Cup-2017 scheduled to be held from May 13. Twelve teams of Premier League will participate in the tournament.
Agreement signing and draw ceremony of Walton Federation Cup were held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Tuesday noon.
Walton, the country's leading electronics, electrical, automobile and telecommunication products manufacturing and marketing company bought the title sponsorship from Bangladesh Football Federation. Premier Bank Ltd became the power sponsor while Transcom Foods Ltd (TFL), Progoti Insurance, Eastern Bank Ltd, Prime Distributions Group and Treasure Securities Ltd became the co-sponsors.
Head of Sports & Welfare of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn), BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, Operations Manager of Transcom Foods Ltd Sheikh Zahir Uddin Ahmed Dolon and others attended the ceremony.
After the draw ceremony, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra and new team Saif Sporting Club Limited included to the group 'A' while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Farashganj Sporting Club to the group 'B', Chittagong Abahani, Arambagh Krira Sangha and Mohammedan Sporting Club to the group 'C' and Brothers Union, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society and Team BJMC to the group 'D'.
BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy said, "It should not be right to lower the sports friendly brand Walton group by giving thanks to it. The Walton group is closely related to the Bangladesh Football Federation and football. It has continued its extensive support to the Federation and it has assisted in this tournament by playing an important role as the chief patron."
Head of Sports & Welfare of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar said, "We were with football earlier and will try to extend our support towards it in future. This tournament is, of course, a great achievement. We believe football will bring glory for us."
