The country’s electronics giant ‘Walton’ has set a target of selling two lakh pieces of refrigerators in the holy month of Ramadan as the demand for the cooling appliances is relatively high centering Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest festivals of Muslims. The target is 20 percent higher than the previous year.
More than 100 models of frost and non-frost Walton fridges are in the market while 26 new models have been included with the existing product line which have huge energy saving capacity and environment friendly R600a gas has been used as refrigerant.
To meet the increased demand, which has been boosted up due to the extreme scorching weather, the local brand has taken massive preparation from its production process to marketing strategies. Walton has already increased fridge production, built up stock to maintain smooth supply along with transporting the products to different parts of the country for 24 hours.
Sources said, blended with attractive design and colors, the new 26 models include 15 frost and 11 non-frost refrigerators and they are being manufactured using state-of-the art technology and latest machineries. Among the frost fridges, Tempered Glass Door Refrigerator is remarkable. 'Nano Healthcare' technology is used to keep the food fresh automatically preventing bacterial infestation while negative ion retains the taste of food and keep them odorless.
According to marketing officials, Walton Glass Door Refrigerators, priced between 32,900 to 35,900 BDT, are prime attraction to customers as they are attractive in design and affordable in prices too. Five new refrigerators of intelligent inverter technology are among the non-frost models. The 3-door inverter technology fridges cost 60,900 to 61,900 BDT. These new models of refrigerators are getting huge response from customers for prefect finishing, attractive designs, huge power saving capacity and adequate space.
Moreover, bachelors are preferring buying one-door 'Walton Bachelor Fridge' which costs only 17,500 BDT. This model of refrigerator is also widely been used in restaurants, hospitals and bachelor houses as well.
Tapash Kumer Mojumder, Executive Director of Walton and chief of its Refrigerator Research and Development department, said Walton refrigerators feature 9-layer VCM door, which prevents rust and scratches but retains the brightness of the doors ensuring long-life.
Tahasinul Haque, chief engineer of Walton Refrigerator Quality Control department, said that every Walton refrigerator is released in the market after ensuring highest quality from international standard verification agency NUSDAT Universal Testing Lab.
Authorities said, the use of Intelligent Inverter technology, Nano Healthcare and Anti-Fungal Door Gasket technology, one-year replacement guarantee, ten years guarantee for compressors, maximum 36-month easy installment facility, achieving Five Star energy rating from BSTI and suitability with the local weather conditions helped Walton refrigerators to be at the top of the customers' choice.
Amdadul Hoque Sarker, Executive Director and chief of Walton Marketing department, said Walton has set the target of selling more than 2 lakh pieces of this fridge in this Ramadan. He mentioned that 1.25 lakh pieces have already been sold in the first 13 days of the month of fasting. He hoped of exceeding the target if the sales growth continues. He also informed that Walton enjoyed 48 percent sales growth in January to May this year compared to the 5 months of the same period in last year.
Mentionable, Walton is delivering fast and quality service to customers under the ISO certified Service Management System through 67 service centers across the country. New service centers will be opened soon in five more district cities. Apart from this, Walton is offering after-sales service at more than 300 service points where more than 2,500 engineers and technicians are working.
