The country’s electronics giant Walton has extended the tenure of its nationwide ‘Digital Registration Campaign’ by another two months in line with huge customers’ response, along with the advent of new year and the 23rd version of the month-long ‘Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) - 2018’ started at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar in the capital on January 1, 2017.
Earlier on October 2 of 2017, Walton started three-month long Digital Registration Campaign with the aim of accelerating its online based post sales services through bringing the appliances under registration during sales. The tenure of the campaign was scheduled to end on December 31, 2017. But now, the local brand extended the campaign’s timeframe up to February 28 of the current year.
While announcing ‘Digital Registration Campaign’ at a press conference at a city hotel on October 2 last year, Walton also offered different valued cash vouchers, ranging from Tk 200 to Tk 1 lakh, to the customers aimed at making the initiative of online based post sales services successful by encouraging them in spontaneously registering their purchased appliances from any Walton Plazas and distributors outlets across the country.
Under the offer, the customers, who purchase products of minimum Tk 10,000 worth Walton products from any branded outlets across the country, are receiving up to Tk 1 lakh cash vouchers, by which they are further purchasing various sorts of electronics and electrical home and kitchen appliances of the local brand.
The declaration of cash vouchers offer and massive advertisement of the campaign in each and every corner of the country are resulted in drawing huge customers’ attention and thus Walton witnessed a sharp growth in its online registered customers’. During the period of October to December, a large number of customers willingly registered their appliances just after the purchase by sending SMS from their handsets.
Considering the customers’ huge response to the registration process, along with the advent of New Year and the month-long DITF-18, Walton extended the tenure of the campaign by more two months. As a result, the customers who will purchase minimum Tk 10,000 or the above worth of Walton products during the extension period (January and February) will have the chance of receiving up to Tk 1 lakh cash vouchers.
Under the campaign, details of the customers and their purchased products including the name of customer, contact number and the model of the product would be kept and stored on Walton server http://support.waltonbd.com which would help customers to get after sales service easily by logging in this web page and they would be able to see the status of the product from online.
Dwelling on the extension, Uday Hakim, senior operative director of Walton Group, said, the campaign was started to further move ahead the country’s digital service sector by providing online based post sales services. To make the initiative successful, Walton is also conducting massive advertisement across the country, which has paved the way to receive huge response from the customers, he said adding, thus the period of the campaign has been extended up to February 28 this year.
Uday Hakim also said, earlier customers were reluctant to register their purchased appliances, but now they are spontaneously registering their Walton products after the purchase that will not only accelerate the Walton’s online based after sales services but also make the services more easy and swift.
Amdadul Haque Sarker, executive director of Walton Group’s distributor marketing channel, said, the number of registered customers of Walton products were increased sharply during the last three months. Especially, huge customers’ responses were received during the last month (December) of the campaign.
In addition, the month-long DITF has already started, along with the advent of new year, saying it he informed that every year Walton sold out a good number of products at the DITF. Considering all these issues, he added that Walton extended the timeframe of the Digital Registration Campaign up to February 28, 2018.
