Walton have won a T20 friendly cricket match by 27 runs against Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA). Organised on the occasion of the silver jubilee of BSPA, the match was held at Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium in the capital on June 22, 2012.
Winning the toss, Uday Hakim, captain of Walton, decided to bat and scored a huge 175 runs in 19.5 overs before losing all the wickets. On behalf of the Walton, Anwar scored the highest 42 runs, while Captain Uday Hakim made unbeaten 28 runs just from 18 balls.
BSPA’s Mithun claimed four wickets for 39 runs, while Rumel bagged three wickets for 17 runs.
In the second innings, BSPA struggled from the beginning and lost all their wickets in 18 overs. Mithun scored highest 28 runs, while Sohel took three wickets in 27 runs. Besides, Shuvo and Mizanur took two wickets each. BSPA’s innings stopped at 148.
Walton’s captain Uday Hakim was adjudged Man of the Match for his unbeaten 28 runs and three vital catches in the match.
Earlier, former captain of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team and Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu inaugurated the match as the chief guest. Walton’s Executive Director (PR & Media) Humayun Kabir, Assistant Director (PR & Media) Firoj Alam, Management Adviser SM Zahid Hasan, BSPA’s President Rana Hasan and General Secretary Mostofa Mamun were present, among others.
