Surma wins The WALTON RTV Independence Gold Cup Football Tournament

Surma wins the WALTON-Rtv Independence Gold Cup Football Tournament beating Student Express Jamuna by 6–3 goals. The final match of the tournament was held in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates on Friday night.

Dr. Nazmul Kownain, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to United Arab Emirates, inaugurated the final match of the tournament at the Dalasco playground in Dubai.

Mr. Abu Zafar, consul general of the embassy, Dr. Mahmudul Haque, commercial councilor, Mr. Bader Hareb, public relations director of Dubai Sports Council, Mr. Humayun Kabir, Executive Director (PR and Media) of WALTON, Mr. Syed Ashik Rahman, CEO - RTV, Mr. Udoy Hakim, Chief of Creative & Publication Department of WALTON, Mr. Lokman Hossain Akash, Chief of International Marketing Department of WALTON, Mr. Enayet Ferdous, Media Adviser, Dr. Ali Reza Khan, Director of Dubai Zoo, Engr. Abu Zafar and Mr. Salam Khan were present on the occasion.

About 20,000 Bangladeshi expatriates witnessed the final match with enthusiasm. WALTON and Rtv jointly organised the football tournament. A total of eight teams under two groups participated in the tournament. The names of the teams are Padma, Meghna, Jamuna, Sumra, Kirtonkhola, Karnophuli, Buriganga and Dhaleshwari.

The winning team Surma was comprised of Bangladeshi journalists working in Middle East.In his speech, Mr. Udoy Hakim said “We are very glad that the Dalasco playground in Dubai has become a piece of Bangladesh”.
